The 18 slide presentation includes links to YouTube clips on memory as well as the work of Daniel T. Willingham, B.A. Ph. D, a Professor of Psychology at the University of Virginia. It also includes a fun activity that demonstrates the power of images when revising. This would make an excellent start to the revision process, or even an assembly for Year 11 students as they begin the exam season. This easy to follow PowerPoint demonstrates the power of mnemonics in a very practical and dramatic way. In one 45 - 60 minute lesson, students will amaze themselves with how well they can remember the 17 battles in the Wars of the Roses (in the correct order!), as well as the names and colours of the two families, and the century they took place in. This tried and tested lesson never fails to convince students about the power of mnemonics. One student recently went from 6/22 to 21/22 in one 45 minute lesson.
